Hi, it’s Jack. Today, we’d like to show you how to change the oven temp sensor on your range. If you’re experiencing erratic temperatures or little or no heat or too much heat in your range, you may have a defective sensor. It’s a really easy job to change. Let me show you how we do it.Now before we begin this repair, the first thing we’ll need to do is to disconnect power to the range, so either unplug it or locate the electrical panel, turn off the appropriate breaker or remove the appropriate fuses.
Once we’ve done that, we’ll pull the oven far enough forward that we can access the back panel. Just remove the screw from the lower back panel, the one screw that secures the bottom panel to the upper panel. Then you can flex that panel to the top edge.
Then you can lift it away. Now with the back panel off, you can see the temp sensor over on the right-hand side here. Simply unplug the harness connector. Remove the single screw that secures the mounting bracket. Just rotate it. Unhook the opposite end.
Slide it straight out. Discard that old one. Wind that up so that it slides right through. Again, we’ll tuck one edge of that behind this tab. Rotate it so that the screw hole is visible.
Secure it with the screw and reconnect the harness. Now, we will put the back panel on and to do that, we’ll engage this bottom left into these two slots first. Then flex it enough that we can tuck the top of the panel in behind the upper panel, and then just secure it with the screws. We won’t tighten them until we make sure that all of them are going to line up.
Then go ahead and install the rest. Now, we can push the range back into place. Now that we have the oven pushed back into place, we’re ready to reconnect the power and your repair is complete.
